AAU Law School Jessup Moot Court Team in Washington DC

A team of undergraduate female students of the School of Law of AAU is participating in the 2023 Philp C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition to be held from April 8-15, in Washington, D.C. The team (composed of students Betselot Kefelegn, Mahlet Wubshet, Semira Mohammed and Fiker Shimelis) have been invited to participate in the competition after successfully submitting two written memorials in January 2023.  The Competition is an annual event that brings together law students, academics and judges from all over the world and it is the world’s largest simulated court competition for law students.

The prime objective of the Moot is to educate future legal practitioners and academics from across the world with regard to international law. It provides experience in formulating and presenting legal argument on international law issues. The team of AAU students has been selected to argue the case before a distinguished panel of the most highly qualified judges, practitioners, and scholars. The Moot provides a unique opportunity for our students and legal academics to acquire knowledge and skills and acquaints them to role models who have made it in the world of international law.

Upon arrival in USA, the team received warm reception at the Ethiopian Embassy in Washington D.C, by His Excellency Dr. Eng. Seleshi Bekele, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of FDR Ethiopia to the USA hosted the Ethiopian team.
