As indicated in the table below, the School of Lawof CLGS, AAU,runsone PhD and sixLLMRegular Programs and five LLM Evening Programs.

The programs aim at increasing the knowledge, research and consultancy capabilities of practicing lawyers and judges in the field of study and additionally at increasing the teaching capabilities of the lawyers who teach in law schools. The required annual admission number has been five for the PhD and fifteen and twenty-five for the Regular and Evening LLM Programs, respectively.

 

With high encouragement to female applicants, the requirements for admission to the Programs have been the following:

For admission to the regular and evening LLM Programs:

i.        Holding undergraduate (LLB) degree from accredited university,

ii.      Scoring pass mark on Graduate Admissions Test (GAT) of AAU,

iii.    Scoring pass mark on entrance examination of the School of Law,

iv.    Submitting a personal biography (curriculum vitae), and

v.      Submitting a financial commitment, sponsorship and/or scholarship letter.

 

For admission to the PhD Program in Law:

a)      Holding LLB and LLM degrees in law or LLB and MA degrees in interdisciplinary legal studies from accredited university,

b)      Having an undergraduate or graduate thesis or submitting a peer reviewed or edited publication, 

c)      Scoring pass mark on Graduate Admissions Test (GAT) of AAU,

d)      Scoring pass mark on entrance examination of the School of Law,

e)      Passing interview to be conducted by an admission committee of the School of Law,

f)       Submitting at least two reference letters from previous teacher, research supervisor and/or thesis examiner,

g)      Filing a concept note that highlights a potential PhD research area,

h)      Producing a motivation letter for the PhD research,

i)       Indicating a potential supervisor for the PhD research,

j)       Submitting a personal biography (curriculum vitae), and

k)      Submitting a financial commitment, sponsorship and/or scholarship letter.
