AAU’s all-female Law School Student Team comprised of three undergraduate students: Bezawit Alemayehu, Bitanya Ketema and Felicity Feleke is competing in the 43rd edition of the Jean-Pictet Competition taking place in Bredene, Belgium from 25 February to 3 March 2024.
For 40 years, the Jean-Pictet Competition has been one of the most prestigious competitions and training courses on international humanitarian law for students throughout the world. The Competition is an annual event that brings together law students, academics and judges from all over the world. The prime objective of the Moot is to educate future legal practitioners and academics from across the world with regard to international humanitarian law (IHL). It provides experience in formulating and presenting legal arguments on IHL issues. The team of AAU students has been selected to argue before a distinguished panel of the most highly qualified judges, practitioners, and scholars. The Moot provides a unique opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills and meet inspirational role models who have made it in the world of international law.
The participation of the AAU team was made possible thanks to the initiative of Ms. Vanessa Vuille who is the Associate Human Rights Officer at the United Nations Office to the African Union in Addis (UNOAU).
